Manzanita, OR (3S7)

30 July 2004, my daughter, Sarah, and I
decided to meet my parents at a small Oregon Coast airport called Manzanita (or
Nehalem Bay) 3S7. There is camping on field filled with interesting attractions
like deer, a small bay, interesting airplanes and interesting people.
There is also a nice sandy beach for kite flying and such but you have to
walk through the throng of RV style campers to get there. The nice thing
about the throng is they support the Oregon State Parks' efforts to provide
free hot showers. I highly recommend a trip to Manzanita if you like the
idea of airplane camping. The only downer is that the nearest town (Manzanita)
is about a 1.5 mile walk from the field. Please ensure you sign the
register located on the northwest end of the taxiway to ensure we get credit
for its use.
I almost forgot to mention...there is an excellent air museum in
Tillamook, OR (S47) and as of this writing has cheap avgas.

There are lots of these. Watch out for them on the runway in the
mornings and evenings.
